Although we had intended a much shorter day, we made 400 miles and are currently in Bismark, ND. We had a great night's sleep last night and felt so good when we reached our intended destination that we blew past it and put in another 100 miles. This is great, because we'll be able to sight-see a little for the next few days.
We veered off Montana Route 2 onto Montana route 13, then Montana 200. These are very skinny, small roads on the map, and they don't have any services between the few and far between tiny towns, and are remote and lonely, but are easy travel.
Scenery started as grain fields, many with the grain in huge bails waiting for pickup. Then to dairy farms with cows lounging in tall green grass. It changed dramatically to red and brown buttes when we entered western ND, and finally to rolling hills and more grain and dairy farms, with more evidence of population as we reached central ND. It was a beautiful drive.
We chased the thunderclouds all the way from Montana and for a while thought we'd be camping under them, but they've moved on.
Tomorrow to Fargo. Hope the storms have disappeared from there as well.

Great blog...keep it up. Everything looks so beautiful.
Now you understand Montana's motto, "Big Sky Country", amazing isn't it?
