We arrived at Flathead Lake yesterday afternoon and set up camp at the beautiful Findley Point State Park. We have a lakeside campsite in this wonderful place. It only has 12 sites and by night was two-thirds full of people coming up from Missoula early for the weekend. There is a marina and some nice tent sites set aside for boaters. The lake is clean and clear and with the Montana Sky it is very beautiful and peaceful. We will be here until Sunday morning when we head up to Glacier NP.
Steve taught Doogie to swim yesterday. He goes to the beach at home, and usually just runs along the sand at the edge of the water as the surf intimidates him some. Being part Lab, we knew he could swim, but he has never had the opportunity to find out for himself. Steve tossed a stick for him farther and farther distances until he had to swim to get it. At first he was scared and timid, but he soon figured it out and was quite proud of himself.
One thing I didn't know it that there is a lot of daylight this far north. The sun comes up before 5:00 AM, and didn't completely set last night until after 10:00 PM. In fact, we were sitting and visiting with some neighboring campers, waiting to start a campfire when, realizing that I felt very tired, I looked at my watch and discovered that it was 9:45 PM! And it wasn't completely dark.
It's nice and warm today...in the 80's, but gets very cold at night. 3 blanket cold! Very good for sleeping.
The only internet is in town, so the next post will be in several days.
