Westerville, Ohio, Near Columbus

Having no internet access since Thursday, the blog entries below were written on the dates notes.

Today we pointed west, for the first time. We left Lorton about 10:30, intending to have an easy drive to Pittsburgh, but we felt good at Pittsburgh, and motored on through Wheeling all the way to Columbus. Tomorrow, we will try another long day to make Peoria, 400 miles. It's 1600 miles from Washington, DC to Mt. Rushmore, and we'd like to cover the distance as quickly as possible to leave more days in Rushmore. We have a reservation in Grant Teton National Park on Labor Day weekend, then head home. I had planned 300 mile days, but if we can knock off an extra hundred, it leaves us more time to see the sights around Rushmore - the Black Hills, the Crazy Horse sculpture, and numerous historic native American sites. Today was a great drive, and hopefully the others will be as well. We had planned to stay at Walmart, but it's 86, and we felt a little AC would be refreshing. So here we are in rural Columbus.
